it was time!

With summer approaching, it really was time. A new look for the new warm weather! How does it look?
We were at the mall, and it was sort of a on a whim we entered the salon. Poor Anna really wanted to chop off her hair too...but I can't seem to let go of those cute little curls! Mitch has been BEGGING me to cut Anna's hair as well. Maybe this summer...or maybe not. We'll just have to see.
But for now, I think Kela's new 'do really suits her!

freeeeedom!!

It's April, which means time for the annual "Little Tiger Preschool" at McKinley High School. Their Early Child Development class holds a short 7 week preschool program for next to free...and even though it's all the way in town, I strongly believe it's well worth the trip.
I mean, FREE preschool? How can I resist?
This year is the first year for Anna. Last year, she nearly cried every time we dropped Kela off, so this year she was SUPER excited to join in!
And, without even a look back to see me leave...

What makes this year's class even more special is that her cousins Hugo and Kumen are also classmates!! Too, too fun!

I suppose the absolute BEST part of all this is the fact that, with two kids in preschool...all I have is Jolee with me for nearly 3 hours!
THREE FULL HOURS of FREEDOM!
What to do with myself for three full hours with only ONE child?

This is me and Jolee just relaxing and hangin' out at Magic Island (Ala Moana Beach Park).
I got to walk/jog for an entire 2 full hours while Jolee took a nap, and then after she woke up, we just relaxed on the grass.

I think I even got a hint of some sunburn!

After preschool, we ate lunch at Ala Moana Mall and said hello to the koi fish. Yay for summer weather...and double YAY for preschool!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, and in other happy news...Anna is fully potty-trained now. She has been wearing "panties" for about 2 weeks now. I would post a picture of it...but it's not really a "visually" appropriate announcement. :)
Yea for FREEDOM from diapers, too! Woo Hoo!!
happy easter week
It always seems like instead of celebrating Easter Sunday, we end up celebrating Easter all week long! (not that I mind...)
This week, we had our Easter Egg hunting at the local library. (See that post here). Then a couple of days later, it was another Easter party with their preschool teacher, Mrs. Neill. She always prepares fun activities and treats, and this time was some kite flying (Mitch really got into this!) and an Easter-Egg scavenger hunt. What we got out of this day was not only some more candy eggs and some watercolor paints, but also a Daddy determined to buy a nice, big kite for the next windy day.
(are you singing that Mary Poppins song, too? It was stuck in my head that entire day...)
Easter-Egg hunting with all the cousins at Aunty Airi's house.
With and official "Easter Bunny" and everything!
Jolee's very first Easter.
I know I should have gotten a better picture...but I'm coming to realize the difficulty in getting a decent shot of all 3 kids all at the same time.
Happy Easter to all!!
the birthday boy!
Yep, the only "BOY" in our household turned one year older today!
Hooray for Mommy that Daddy is now the same age!
(no more crackin' jokes about my age, now!!)
For Daddy's birthday, the girls wanted to make something special for him.
We recently borrowed a book from the library called,
"NOODLES FROM SCRATCH".
And, wouldn't you know it, they have the recipe for how to make said "Noodles from scratch" right at the end of the book! For Daddy's birthday present, they wanted to make Daddy a special dinner...so, I pushed aside my "control-freak-in-the-kitchen" mentality and let the girls have their fun.
And wouldn't you know it! They had fun!
Measuring, mixing and kneading the dough...
Then, rolling and cutting...
And after a couple of hours of waiting...the end result?
Delish!
(surprisingly, it actually was pretty good!
In a "home-made" kinda way)
And for the finale...who ever heard of a birthday without cake...?
Yea, we haven't either.
Happy Birthday, Daddy!!
easter already...?
I can't believe it's that time of year again!
Time for sweets, treats, and SUGAR, SUGAR, SUGAR!!!
The girls at our local library's Easter Egg Hunt.
They do this every year...and it's GREAT!
What makes this even better?
The girls are quite picky with the candies they like.... which means that aside from the Hershey's Kisses, M&M's, and gummy snacks--most of the other candies simply get...
left behind!
Hmm...what a shame.
note to self...
...put away my things.
Thank goodness this occurred in the kitchen. And not on the carpet...!
Ahhh...the joys of girls!
01 April 2009
yes...
...we went to the zoo again.
Almost everyday, when Kela and Anna ask what we're doing the next day, I tell Kela that she has preschool. Then, Anna-with as much surety as a 3 year old can muster-says, proudly, "And I'm going to the Zoo!"
I always feel so bad when we have to break it to her that,
"no...we can't go to the zoo today."
Today (well, technically, it was yesterday), however, with Kela having no preschool, and her cousins and friends still being on spring break, Anna's wish came true!
Despite the fact that we had to circle the parking lot numerous times (I ended up giving up and parking at Kapiolani Park across the street-and got a bit of exercise in the process, too! Yay!) and the zoo being super crowded, they all had fun. Plus, with the slightly cooler weather, the animals also seemed in better spirits and were out walking around!
OH, and Spring must be in the air...we saw a peacock flaunting his "stuff" trying to attract a mate. I think. It was pretty fancy.
