bellows

Every year, our ward secures a campsite on Bellows AFB for those people who want to camp out!
This year, Mitch braved the bugs and wind for one night in a tent with our two older girls. Not to mention my Mother-in-Law! Who is NOT a camper.
Apparently, they had fun. Though...one would wonder how much fun they had when they came home at 7:30 in the morning!
Anyway...that was earlier in the week...before all the hubbub of Jolee's accident.

Then, on the last night of camping week...we usually invite all those non-campers (like myself!) to come up for a fun evening of dinner and games.
The weather was pretty chilly...being on the Windward side of the island, it gets pretty windy. Luckily, we were prepared!
Jolee kept wanting to climb up this big rock.
Of course, this was impossible one-handed...so Mitch hoisted her up and guided her down. Over and over again.

Jolee and me.
After dinner, waiting for the entertainment portion of the evening to begin!

Kela and her cousins and friends.
Front row seating!

Amongst some hula dancing and musical performances...this was the main event! Hale Motuapuaka is a 10 year-old boy in our ward.

He is a 2-time World Junior Fire Knife Champion!

It was incredible to watch him perform up close! I was so close, I could hear the fire whizzing...it was INSANE! And he's only 10 years-old!

Some friends brought their own entertainment...
Jolee was drawn to this tent more than any other.

Then...after all the excitement of the show, it was time for s'mores.
Personally, not my favorite snack...but the girls love roasting marshmallows.

(See my paranoid grip on her jacket? You thought I was over-protective BEFORE Jolee's accident? )

Anna seemed to like the s'mores.

While Jolee just wanted to wield the big stick all by herself.

Kela enjoyed roasting the marshmallows...but didn't like eating them as much.
What can I say? She's my daughter after all!
All in all...a fun evening! And the best part about it? They all fell asleep on the way home!
(What's one night of sleeping smelling like a campfire?!
Showers can always be taken in the morning, right?)
